Rahana: Human Rights Lawyer Mohammad Oliyayifar Arrested

March 8, 2010 – Mohammad Oliyayifar was taken into custody by intelligence agents after he appeared this morning before the Revolutionary Court following a court summon.

Oliyayifar was arrested to start serving a 1 year prison sentence given to him for insulting the Judiciary and alleged propaganda against the regime. He was tried on February 7 and sentenced to 1 year in prison, after he voiced his objection to the execution of Behnoud Shojaee and other minor offenders.

The rights lawyer is currently representing a number of post-election detainees. There is still no information on his current whereabouts.
