It is unclear whether the authorities have lifted the death sentence for alleged adultery against Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani or if she faces execution by another means.

New UK Law protects Iranian gay asylum seekers

A new UK policy on equalities states that the UK will stop the deportation of asylum seekers who have had to leave particular countries because their sexual orientation or gender identification at proven risk of imprisonment, torture or execution.
