Khamenei finds new ally against represion and terror: Guyana Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on Thursday accused “bullying” powers of seeking to dominate other nations and stressed Tehran’s strong opposition to such moves.

Khamenei made the remarks in a meeting with Guyanese President Bharrat Jagdeo in Tehran on Thursday, reports the official IRNA news agency.
Praising Guyana’s “independent” foreign policy, Khamenei said: “Countries who do not want to be dominated or seek to dominate [others] are our friends, irrespective of their races or languages.”
Pointing to the “dominance” of the United States and other Western countries in Latin America in previous years, the Iranian leader said that the nations of that region have “fully awakened” and want politicians who seek independent policies.
Recalling common areas of cooperation in fields such as commerce, industry and mining, Khamenei said: “Iran is ready to place its experiences at the disposal of its friends.”
For his part, the president of Guyana lauded Iran’s presence in Latin America and the Caribbean.
“Despite its geographic proximity with America, Guyana has an independent policy and we are ready to make use of Iran’s experience in all fields,” Jagdeo said.
